Facial Procedures Explained

Whether you are new to the facial world or you are wanting to try a new treatment, it can be daunting booking a procedure when you don’t know the ins and outs of what the treatment has to offer.

Different treatments are suited to different skin types and concerns so it is worth knowing what you are wanting to get out of your facial before choosing what suits you. Here is our guide on the different types of facial procedures and treatments that we offer here at AMB.

Million Dollar Facial

Exactly what it says in the name, a Million Dollar Facial will be sure to leave you feeling a million dollars afterwards! By working the skin from the outside in, this facial combines two popular treatments – Dermaplaning and Microneedling to deeply exfoliate the skin and remove any hair to leave the skin perfectly smooth and glowing. This luxurious facial starts with a skin analysis where your Therapist will figure out what it is that you are wanting to achieve from your treatment and if you have any particular skin concerns.

Dermaplaning is the first step in the facial which will remove all of your dead skin cells and any peach fuzz on your face ready for the Microneedling treatment. The Microneedling device uses small needles to penetrate the skin to trigger collagen reproduction. Microneedling is great for minimising pores, wrinkles and also reducing any scarring or pigmentation. After the Microneedling is complete, Hyaluronic Acid is applied to the skin to rehydrate and restore the skins moisture. The whole procedure takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

After the treatment your skin will be left feeling exfoliated as well as plumped and hydrated. The treatment and results are loved by A-List Celebrities and we can totally see why – if it is good enough for them then it is good enough for us!

Dermaplaning has taken Instagram by storm and is the new treatment on the block that will leave you with soft and smooth skin in just one session! Using a scalpel, your Therapist will physically exfoliate your skin to ‘scrape away’ any dead skin cells and to also remove any peach fuzz from your face. Don’t worry, the hair will return less noticeable or the same as before and won’t leave you with coarser hair growing back, you will not even notice it happening!

Dermaplaning leaves you with smooth skin straight after your treatment and with regular treatments you will also notice an improvement in your skins texture and appearance. This treatment takes around 30 minutes and is great as it has no downtime meaning that you can have it right before a special occasion. You will also notice a huge difference with your makeup after this treatment!

If you are looking for a deeper treatment that has amazing effects such as reducing scarring, pigmentation and wrinkles then Microneedling could be perfect for you. Microneedling is the process of penetrating the skin with short fine needles to encourage collagen healing and skin cell rejuvenation which will plump the skin and leave an overall glow.

The length of the needles can be adapted depending on if you have any problem areas such as deep wrinkles or scarring that you want to target. The needles do cause pin prick marks which can cause inflammation and bleeding so make sure that you aren’t doing much for the rest of your day after your treatment. The treatment is suitable for all skin types and takes around 1 hour to complete your session.

Chemical Peel

A Chemical Peels main aim is to improve the appearance of the skin by evening out the overall skin tone. During a Chemical Peel, an acid solution is applied to the skin to break down the top layer to any remove any dead skin cells and to promote the growth of new cells. There are different types and strengths of Chemical Peels so when you have your consultation beforehand your Therapist will determine the correct treatment for you and your skin concerns. Chemical Peels are great for minimising fine lines and wrinkles as well as uneven skin tones, acne scarring and dark spots.

Depending on the strength of your Chemical Peel you will experience redness after your treatment and tightness of the skin followed by dry skin and flaking over the next couple of days. You will be sure to notice an improvement of your skin texture after your treatment.

Microdermabrasion is known as an ‘half an hour facelift’ as it leaves you with glowing, plump and tighter skin after just one treatment. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that uses tiny exfoliating surfaces that remove dead skin cells from the skin. Once these cells have been removed, the skin goes into ‘injury mode’ and replaces those skin cells with brand new healthy ones.

The Microdermabrasion Machine buffs the skin whilst vacuuming any loose skin cells to improve the clarity and texture of your skin. As the treatment stimulates blood flow, this will improve your skins elasticity and improve the look of any scarring and pigmentation as well as unclogging pores. The whole procedure takes around 30 minutes and may leave your skin tender and red afterwards.

LED Light Therapy

LED Light Therapy features one of those crazy looking light up masks which triggers your body’s natural cell turnover process to accelerate rejuvenation of the skin. This treatment is recommended for acne prone skin, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, eczema as well as anybody with dull skin that is just looking to add some radiance and glow.

LED Light Therapy uses different colours of visible light such as red, blue and infra-red light which all have different skin benefits. The light is used as a source of energy to kill bacteria on the skin, repair any damaged skin cells, stimulate the production of collagen and boost circulation. This treatment is completely non-invasive and includes no downtime, perfect for if you are wanting to give your skin a boost!
