How to pamper your nails at home by Eme

Here at AMB we caught up with one of our therapists, Eme. Eme is a mobile beauty therapist across Birmingham and here she gives us her top nail care routine which can easily be done at home.

Spring is upon us, lockdown is easing and I am sure a lot of people across England are super excited for seeing a little glimpse of freedom. One of the many things that I am excited about on my checklist other than searching online retailers for some looks, is being able to get my beauty regime back on track including my nails. Whilst we are waiting for the outdoors to open, why not try this natural nail care routine as healthy natural nails are the great foundation for your nail looks. Trust me, as a nail tech myself, we shall thank you for it!

Tools needed:

Nail File – 220 grit
Cuticle Softener
Orange wood stick (or cuticle pusher if you have one)
1 tbsp Coconut oil
1 tbsp Sugar
Optional - Vitamin E or any essential oil of your choice
Non-acetone remover
Base and Top coat
Colour(s) of your choice
Cuticle oil

Step 1

Use a nail file and file across your nail edge in one direction to shape up your nails.

Step 2

Use a cuticle softener (if you have one) to soften up your cuticles and then use orange wood stick (or cuticle pusher) to gently push cuticle off nail bed and gently scrape it away.

Step 3

Create your homemade nail scrub and mix the ingredients together in a small bowl – 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1tbsp sugar, a few drops of an essential oil. Apply scrub all over hands and even up to your elbows if you have enough then wash off and pat hands dry.

Step 4

Wipe nail polish remover across nails to ensure that they are free from any oils and apply base coat, 2 coats of the colour of your choice and top coat.

Step 5

Once all is dry, apply cuticle oil.
