How did you begin your journey? -

I began my journey by playing with Avon makeup. I then started doing makeovers on my friends... that was 20 years ago now. From then I started reaching out to photographers to work on photoshoots for models and decided to go to a makeup school in Chicago to learn theatrical makeup.

Advice for getting into commercial work as a Makeup Artist -

Don't get discouraged if someone says no. Do as many shoots as you can with photographers to build up your portfolio and show different sides of makeup by working with all skin types and colours.

You started working in the industry 20 years ago, how has the industry changed? -

20 years ago there wasn't social media or any “makeup influencers" and makeup brands have improved their formulas and shade ranges for sure.

Favourite city to work in -

I would have to say New York, its got that something…

Who is your idol in the industry -

When I became interested in makeup I bought myself Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin and he became my makeup idol. I still learn from his books and he is still my favourite artist although he passed away back in 2002.

Which moment in your career are you most proud of? -

I am most proud of being published in the Makeup Artist Magazine in the USA. This magazine is like the “bible” for makeup artists.

How would you describe your signature look? -

A bold eye and clean, healthy skin.

Where do you find your inspiration -

I find inspiration everywhere - nature, current events. I don't follow the trends, I’d rather create new ones.

1 product that you cannot live without -

My favourite product .. that would be Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair. I use it all the time and even mix into foundation for a glowing effect.

Favourite Makeup Artists to follow –

I love to follow Lisa Eldridge - love her work! Also Path Mcgrath because of her bold looks that I love to create myself.
