Looking to get rid of that unwanted hair?

If you are looking for a fast and convenient way to remove your unwanted hair, then book in with a professional AMB Therapist who can provide your treatment in the comfort of your own home for ultimate privacy. As waxing can be a daunting thought, we have put together some tips to ensure that your treatment runs as smooth as possible!

What is so great about waxing?

Waxing removes the hair from the root ensuring that you are silky smooth for as long as 4-6 weeks depending on how fast your natural hair tends to grow – perfect for holidays! Waxing also allows your hair to grow back thinner and finer and is much gentler on the skin as opposed to shaving.

Before your wax appointment

You may need to trim your hair before you go for your wax as the wax may struggle to remove the hairs if they are too long. The ideal hair length is ¼ of an inch, anything less than this the wax may not be able to grip the hairs.

This will get rid of any dead skin cells and prevent you from getting any ingrown hairs.

Make sure that the area is cleansed thoroughly and do not apply any products before your wax appointment.

Hot wax or strip wax?

Your Therapist will be able to help and advise you on whether hot wax or strip wax is better for you depending on the area that you are waxing and also your skin type.

Hot Wax

Hot wax is better for people with sensitive skin and is more suited to the bikini line or the armpits where the hair is more stubborn.

Strip Wax

Strip wax is deal for legs, arms, eyebrows and other easily accessible areas.

After your wax appointment

Do not expose the skin to any sun until 24-48 hours after your wax appointment to avoid any burns or pigmentation. Avoid wearing tight clothing and avoid any exercise, saunas, hot showers and any deodorants or sprays for 24 hours after your wax.

If your skin is irritated after your wax, an antiseptic cream can help and this will also protect your skin from any infection.

Exfoliate (always!)

Not only does exfoliating help before your wax but if you want to keep ingrown hairs at bay then make sure that you are exfoliating a couple of times a week (let your wax calm down for a few days first).

When waxing is done professionally, the experience and the downtime is super convenient especially if you have a special occasion or holiday approaching.

If you are waxing for an occasion, make sure that you book your wax 2-3 days before so that your skin has time to soothe. Once you start waxing, you will wish you had done it sooner!
